Weather-resistant structural steel, that is, atmospheric corrosion-resistant steel, belongs to low-alloy high-strength structural steel, which is divided into high-weather-resistant structural steel and weather-resistant steel for welded structures according to its main characteristics.
Classification
A high weathering steel
High weathering structural steel is added to a small amount of copper, phosphorus, chromium, nickel elements in steel, so that it forms a protective layer on the collective surface of the metal to improve the performance of steel resistance to atmospheric corrosion, can also add a small amount of molybdenum, niobium, vanadium, titanium, zirconium and other elements to refine the grain, improve the mechanical properties of steel, improve the toughness of steel, reduce the brittle transition temperature, so that it has a better resistance to brittle fracture performance.
Two welded structural weathering steel
Its elements added to the steel, except for phosphorus, basically the same as the high weathering structural steel, its role is also the same, and improve the welding properties.
Uses
The use of high weathering structural steel is mainly used for bolting, riveting and welding structural parts for vehicles, containers, buildings, towers and other structures because of its better resistance to atmospheric corrosion than welded structural steel. When used as welded structural members, the thickness of the steel should be no more than 16 mm. weathering steel for welded structures has better welding properties than high weathering structural steel and is mainly used for welded structural members for bridges, buildings and other structures.
